LET'S DANCE

Dancing in Jaffa is a creative cultural collaboration which bridges the gap between Jewish and Palestinian children in Israel.  The project which was turned into a film, tells the story of champion ballroom dancer Pierre Dulaine’s trip to his birthplace of Jaffa, Israel, to set up a multicultural dance program. “When a human being dances with another person. you get to know that person in a way you can’t describe,” he says — “what I’m asking them to do is dance with the enemy”.

AFROCUBISM

A great example of a creative collaboration is the idea behind the Cuban and Malian project called AfroCubism, which was the original concept for the Buena Vista Social Club album of 1997, before travel restrictions at the time prevented the Malians and Cubans from coming together.

When trying to describe his approach to the collaboration process, Diabaté of the Malians explains : "When I meet musicians, I don't play their music, and they don't play my music. We do our own music, and it becomes a fusion."
